Oxford Business Leaders launch campaign to fund BHF research

The ‘Saving Hearts and Winning Minds’ event on February 16th 2023 marked the official launch of the ‘Heart of Oxford’ Business Board in support of the British Heart Foundation (BHF). The Board comprises a group of local business leaders in Oxford, who are raising vital funds in the community to help find cures for heart and circulatory diseases.
The launch, which took place at the Institute for Developmental and Regenerative Medicine (IDRM), was well-attended and included both research talks and personal stories from board members. In the break-out spaces, attendees could also participate in a live demo of the new BHF ‘RevivR’ app, which provides lifesaving practical and portable training in CPR, and were given the opportunity to enjoy a tour of the Institute as well as ample refreshments during the networking sessions.
Chairman Satish Mathur welcomed guests and explained more about the business board, before handing over to Professor Paul Riley, Director of the Institute of Developmental and Regenerative Medicine at the University of Oxford, to explain more about his team’s fascinating research.
Institute Director, Professor Paul Riley, addressed the attendees, explaining the concepts behind the research at the IDRM and the support for cardiovascular science from the BHF:
Without the critical support of the BHF, the institute wouldn't have been built. They were the first to come on board and recognise the vision of the institute.
Help them make a difference locally as they work with businesses, research, and the community to raise awareness around heart disease and raise essential funds to support lifesaving research being carried out in Oxford. Your support would be invaluable, so please register your interest directly as below or contact Jonathan, who is one of the board members.
