We actively promote a culture of wellbeing by ensuring everyone in the Institute, and our home departments, have access to the right support. Our staff and students have access to qualified Mental Health First Aiders and Bullying and Harassment Advisors, reflecting our commitment to fostering a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment.

We actively invest in wellbeing initiatives designed to support both physical and mental health, giving our staff the opportunity to unwind, stay active, and connect with colleagues in a relaxed setting.

We offer free yoga and bootcamp sessions in partnership with the Department of Paediatrics. In collaboration with other departments across the Old Road Campus, staff and students also have free access to a workplace choir.

Monthly Institute Social and Networking Events

We recognise that wellbeing is nurtured not only through structured initiatives but also through informal opportunities to connect, relax, and recharge. Monthly social activities, organised by members of the Institute, play an important role in this. Events such as Biodiversity Walks, Craft Lunches, and Boardgame Nights offer staff and students the chance to engage in shared interests, take a break from work, and build connections in a relaxed and informal way.
