Miglė Kalvaitytė-Repečkė is a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in the Simões Group, specialising in cardiovascular biology. She joined the group as part of the BBSRC-funded CellTalk Human Heart Development consortium, where her work focuses on the cellular and molecular mechanisms that drive heart development.

Miglė holds a degree in Genetics and Molecular Biology and a PhD in Biology from Vilnius University, Lithuania. Her early research focused on tissue engineering, investigating interactions between 3D-printed scaffolds and stem cells for artificial bone tissue formation. During her doctoral studies, she shifted to cardiovascular research, studying the molecular mechanisms of heart regeneration in zebrafish.

Her current research integrates in vitro human iPSC-derived 3D cardiac organoids with in vivo zebrafish models to identify conserved intercellular signalling pathways that regulate cardiogenesis.
