I am a Research Assistant in the Simões Lab, investigating the role of macrophages in regulating cardiac regeneration and fibrotic scarring following injury. Leveraging the zebrafish’s unique capacity for complete heart regeneration, my work focuses on dissecting the cellular and molecular mechanisms driving this process. To complement this work, I also study cardiac development using human iPSC-derived cardiac organoids and CRISPR–Cas9–mediated gene editing.

I hold a BSc in Biochemistry from the University of Bristol and an MRes in Inflammation from the University of Edinburgh, where my research focused on the role of neutrophils in cancer initiation using zebrafish models.
