Corinne Betts is a Programme Manager in Prof Stephan Sanders’ team in the Department of Paediatrics at the University of Oxford, where she supports the management and delivery of a diverse research portfolio.
She obtained her BMedSci from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and her DPhil from the University of Oxford, working with Prof Matthew Wood on antisense therapies for Duchenne muscular dystrophy. She subsequently remained in the Wood laboratory as a postdoctoral researcher for five years.
Corinne later worked as a Clinical Trial Coordinator and Operations Manager in the Department of Paediatrics, managing a portfolio of academic and industry-led studies in paediatric neuromuscular disease alongside Prof Laurent Servais and Dr Sithara Ramdas. She also served as a Clinical Trial Manager within the Pandemic Sciences Institute (Horby group), overseeing a European Commission–funded observational study on acute respiratory infections and a platform trial investigating therapeutics for filovirus infections.
She has over 17 years of experience in biomedical research, spanning drug discovery, preclinical development for rare neuromuscular diseases, and clinical trials. She also has experience in quality management within the immunodiagnostics industry and a strong track record of research coordination, team leadership, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
