Regulation of RNA translation by manipulating regulatory elements, focusing on uORFs
I am a Research Assistant and a DPhil student in the Roberts group, focusing on upstream open reading frames (uORFs). uORFs are sequences located upstream of the main coding sequence that plays a regulatory role in the translation of the primary protein. By manipulating these uORF sequences, we can directly alter their regulatory functions and influence the translation rate of specific proteins. My research aims to evaluate uORFs as regulators of RNA translation and explore their viability as therapeutic targets for developing new interventions treating paediatric diseases.
