Mathilda Mommersteeg is an Associate Professor of Developmental and Regenerative Medicine in the Department of Physiology, Anatomy & Genetics and a Fellow of St. Cross College. She obtained her PhD from the University of Amsterdam, before joining University College London (UCL) as a long-term EMBO fellow. While at UCL, she discovered the Mexican cavefish as a novel model for heart regeneration research funded by the British Heart Foundation. In 2014 she started her own research group in Oxford, and in 2018 she was awarded an ERC starting grant.
