Esra Sengul

Esra is a postgraduate student in the Mommersteeg Group and Carr Group, and a member of Lady Margaret Hall, her study is funded by The Clarendon Fund in partnership with Medical Research Council DTP. Her DPhil project focuses on exploring the association between the immune response and regenerative ability in A. mexicanus.

Before her DPhil, she undertook her MSc under the supervision of Prof Meltem Elitas in the Biomechatronics group at Sabanci University, where she worked on understanding Glioblastoma heterogeneity and its interaction with Tumor-Associated Macrophages (TAMs) and epithelial-mesenchymal transition. Prior to that, she completed her BSc with a focus on circulating microRNAs in the thoracic aortic aneurysm and thoracic aortic dissection patients at Istanbul University.
