Dr Chloe Howells joined the Gupta group in 2026 as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist, where she researches oligonucleotide conjugates for delivery to extrahepatic cells. Her current work includes antibody- and small molecule- oligonucleotide conjugation for cardiac delivery for treatment of inherited cardiomyopathies.
Previously, Chloe completed her PhD under the guidance of Dr. Nick Fletcher at Lancaster University. Her thesis was titled “Investigating Benzimidazole-Based Fluorophores for Their Biological Activities”, studying novel Ru(II) polypyridyl complexes and their interactions with DNA and biologically important anions. Chloe then moved to the University of Southampton as a Research Fellow in the Stulz group, where she worked on porphyrin-modified oligonucleotides for G-quadruplex stabilisation.
