Originally from Mexico, I completed my undergraduate studies in the faculty of Chemistry at the National Autonomous University of Mexico and an MSc in Biomedicine (Distinction). Later, I achieved an MRes and completed my PhD in metabolic and cardiovascular disease at the University of Cambridge, funded by a Cambridge Wellcome Trust scholarship.
In 2019, I received a Charter Award from Homerton College at the University of Cambridge, and a Carlos Fuentes award in 2023. I also did two research internships, one funded by the Nuffield Department of Medicine in Oxford, and another one in Germany funded by Bayer Science and Education Foundation.
I joined Sarah De Val's lab as a postdoctoral research fellow in June 2024 with a Novo Nordisk-University of Oxford fellowship with which I will focus on identifying human arterial enhancers and explore key transcriptional regulators and pathways regulated by pathological stimuli inherent to atherosclerosis.
