He leads a sub-team within the group of Prof Matthew Wood with the overall theme of ‘RNA Medicine’. His research interests include neuromuscular disorders, RNA biology, extracellular nucleic acids, biomarkers, epigenetics, and gene/oligonucleotide therapies. He studied at the University of Oxford for both his undergraduate degree in Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry and doctoral degree in Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics (thesis title: Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy: RNA-based therapeutics and microRNA biology). He subsequently moved to San Diego, California where he undertook postdoctoral training positions at the Scripps Research Institute, Department of Molecular and Experimental Medicine (laboratory of Professors Kevin Morris and Marc Weinberg) and Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute, Development, Aging and Regeneration Program (laboratory of Professor Lorenzo Puri).
