Communications Team

I'm responsible for developing and delivering the IDRM's events, internal and external communications, and public engagement activities. My day-to-day role involves planning and managing events that bring researchers together to share knowledge and cultivate collaborations within the Institute and beyond, as well as publicising our scientists' cutting-edge research, awards, and other achievements via our Institute newsletter, social media channels and website. I also chair the IDRM’s public engagement committee, helping to define our engagement framework and supporting research staff and students with outreach initiatives.

I graduated from the University of Aberdeen with a BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry and a PhD in Molecular Biology. I have fourteen years of research experience working in the industrial biotechnology sector, where I started my journey as a graduate intern for a bio-based renewable chemicals company, developing and applying CRISPR-Cas-based genetic engineering tools to commercial applications. Most recently, I led an R&D team manufacturing research-use-only proteins using Clostridia as a novel microbial production host, in addition to overseeing the company’s apprenticeship and work experience programmes. Science communication and public engagement have always been integral to and what I enjoyed most about my previous roles, so I’m excited to move into a role where I can focus on showcasing world-class research.
