Ruth Baker

Professor of Applied Mathematics

Ruth Baker is Professor of Applied Mathematics at the Mathematical Institute, University of Oxford, where she leads a group focussed on developing and applying mathematical, computational and statistical methods to better understand key problems in cell and developmental biology. In 2014 she was awarded the Whitehead Prize of the London Mathematical Society for outstanding contributions to the field of mathematical biology, in 2019 she was elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology (FRSB), and in 2020 Fellow of the Institute of Mathematics and Its Applications (FIMA).
