The Super Users at the Facility have a wide range of flow cytometry expertise.
Barbara Dema
The flow cytometry trainers (also known as Super Users) at the IDRM Flow Cytometry Facility have a wide range of flow cytometry expertise in industry and academia. They have a consolidated experience in multiparametric flow cytometry and cellular sorting using spectral and conventional cytometers. Our Super Users are dedicated to providing training, support, and guidance to anyone interested in using the facility’s instruments and services
Who we are
The IDRM Flow Cytometry Facility is composed of a heterogenous and supportive network of researchers that have proven expertise and advanced knowledge in flow cytometry. They provide flow cytometry training and technical support according to their availability to everyone interested in using the instruments.
On behalf of the Super Users, their representative (Dr Jesus Reine) created a forum to discuss novel technologies and innovative flow cytometry approaches for the benefit of the IDRM researchers. This forum also includes experts in laser safety (Grahame Faulkner, DLS Officer), which helps improve the good practice and procedures at the IDRM. The IDRM also has a Biological Safety Committee (BSC) that evaluates the safety of all the procedures (acquisition and/or cell sorting) related to biological samples prior to any acquisition.
What we do
Our mission statement and aims as a group are as follows:
- Provide standardised training and technical support according to their availability as part of their career development.
- Facilitate access to our state of art instruments, the Sony spectral analysers and cell sorter, to enable users to improve their research outcomes and enhance science-industry collaborations.
- Create a professional network and forum to discuss novel technologies, flow cytometry methods and the adequate maintenance of the instruments promoting the standardisation and harmonisation of flow cytometry.
